the collaboration between Reading at Tiffany's and is Leafing created a special devoted entirely to women and now I do, Holly, to tell the story of 8 March which has deep roots.

all began when the ' March 8, 1857 for the first time in history a group of workers in New York went on strike against poor pay and poor conditions in which they were forced to work. The only result we can get, however, was an attack by the police.
Two years later the same workers decided to meet in a union to protect all women are exploited and underpaid. In 1907
international socialist movement was born of women: Clara Zetkin leader of the German labor movement organized together with Rosa Luxemburg the first international conference of women.
The symbolic date, however, is linked to ' March 8, 1908 when, in France, a group of workers lost their lives for expressing their right. A few days before these women gave way to a strike against the textile industry Cotton with whom they worked.
The owner of the factory, Mr. Johnson decided to take the reins of the situation and instead of hearing the complaint of the workers, the locks on the inside. When the fire broke out, women were prisoners in their own factory and 129 of them lost their lives.
Two years later, in 1910 in Copenhagen during a new international meeting of women was proposed the establishment of an International Women's Day . The day began well to be celebrated in different parts of the world and also in Italy, during and after the First World War.
In our country the celebration taken during the liberation struggle as a national day of mobilization of women against war German occupation and the demands of women's rights. In 1946
UDI organized the first March 8 in the Italian free for the recognition of economic, social and political aspects of women and the mimosa was chosen as a symbol. On March 8, is not really a party now is defined as a recurrence but do not forget those born to women, mothers, wives and sisters who decided not to lower his head but wanted to make their voices heard as workers exploited.
This day serves to remind us all not to remain silent in the face of injustices that many women in many parts of the world are victims, our voice is strong and must be heard.
would be nice if, by participating in one of the many initiatives proposed or accepted by a branch of mimosa, thinking of what many women over the years have had to endure today to give us the freedom to vote and made a present of equality and respect.
Do not lower your head, do not allow modern society to continue with new forms of abuse of our bodies and our being, we learn to open our eyes against a disturbing and growing commodification of women.
